Hi,
write down your email and I will send you some realy interesting reading about czech pavisas with sign of Prague (one of them was found in France!). Unfortunately its in Czech, but I hope, you cand handle it.

About reenacting groups doing early XV. century, there are some in Czech (its better to call them "fencing" groups). I know about projects trying to make goup of crossbowmen, but they are not so serious...

Owen, Wagners drawing are from XX century and there are reproduced from paintings from XIV. and XV. century. However, your looking at them with causions is apposite... We are used to say: "Wagner is not Bible"

I absolutely agree with you... There are no writen sources from which author was drawing (both in Wager and Ospreys publications), but lately you can recognize their reproductions on originals...
BTW: In the book I have promised you are some sources on which was Wagner drawing upon. I will send it as soon as possible (I hope on begining of next week)...

Hi Owen,
I have to disappoint you, but I really don't know what's written on this pavise. All I know it's form Prague from second half of 15th century. I took this picture in National museum in Prague. It was a part of a temporary display.

Czolem Owen, ta wasza paveza, to jest bardzo piekne dzielo.

V glove ale mam, czy tak piekne kolorovane pavezy nemiali zwyczajni piechurzy. Jest mozliwe, aby tak piekne kolorovane pavezy mial odzial k ochrone wodza, ktury zaplacil zrobiene takich pieknych pavez dla swojego prestyzu?
p.s. czytales artykul od Martina o wojennej taktice poznego srednoviecza v Czechach. Jest na na glownej strone v 2.serii artykuluv.

Mysle, ze u bozich wojovnikuv nebardzo bedo malovane pavezy. Chyba v zbrojovniach miast, kture pochodzou przed husickymi vojnami.
