l.Do people actually know what a blunderbuss is? It was not a weapon for hunting small game. It was a serious close combat piece that was extensively used in naval warfare. It was also carried by irregulars such as guerrillas or Rogers Rangers (not uniformly obviously...just spelling it out) to augment their regular firepower.
That said, it was also popular among civilians for personal defense, and as "medicine" against bears or other large animals encountered in the wild areas. It was a good defense against highwaymen used by coachmen as wel
